recycling things.. cause i can.

i found this.....

going through all my stuff to pack and move.. i found this thing i started to write.. have yet to finish it. but i surprised myself.. i keep forgetting what i can do.

Inside, it had always felt simple. A gift of clarity rewarded to me from early on. My life a long deep breath. As such, I lived simply. My own little apartment, decorated so that the eye easily slid from one object to the next. The visual equivalentto a drink of ice water. My job was enough. Kept me busy enough. Was not demanding enough. My job was there in my life. However, in spite of all my simplicity, all my calmness, I felt the considerable sensation of lacking in my life. Or rather a seed of something great waiting to burst out of me. It nested itself, this seed, in the back of my brain as I sat in the cafe watching people stomp by. I felt it in my belly when I stood in teh woods letting the roar of silence deafen me.It itched my fingertips when I stuck them in the mud, memorizing the sensation. No matter what I did, I could not get the seed to germinate. So I spend my days simply. Quietly. Until one morning.

I did not wake up feeling all that greatly different. I woke up and all the answers to all of the questions buried deep inside a person were in me. I did not know what they were, but that they were mine. In the dark, I sat up and ran my hands over the warm sheets. I ran my hands over my face massaging it to motivate blood flow and awake. I ran my hands up through my bed tangled hair, using my fingers to comb out it's worst knots.

Edging over the side of my bed, I stumbled out towards my daily routine of getting ready for work. As I raised my head and focused on my form, I saw it- the seed had taken root. At first I thought it was a trick of lights, something odd with the light bulbs, a color variance. But no, the lights were fine. It was my skin. Instead of my normal olive complexion, I was now patchworked with colors. A block of mauve over my eye, mustard yellow swirled with moss green at my chin, colonial blue enveloped my belly. My left arm now lavendar ending in red fingertips. My right arma pale umber brown. All the way down to my toes, as one color left off another took over. When muscles flexed, colors undulated. I should have been horrified, crying, calling 911, calling in sick to work, something. But I was not. I knew that this was what I had been waiting for. The greatness inside me had manifested itself in my technicolor derma. Giddiness bubbled up from my toes, tickled my belly and escaped in the form of giggles from my pumpkin orange lips. Picasso's living painting!! Dancing around, I flipped on all the lights, swirling in front of mirrors. Tearing off pajamas, I reveled in my being.

not done yet with it..

Because God lives in a zero gravity environment and doesn't know the difference.

I must be insane. Somehow, I had the idea that when you go to work - you work. Clearly I have this wrong. Work is about chatting and gossip and any excuse to have an hour or two set aside for morning tea.

"What are we celebrating today?"

"Oh you know so and so? She was fired so we're having morning tea for her"

????

Lets get this show on the road.I don't want to be here all day. There are other people I want to see more than you.

SO my physio gave me the go ahead to start up running again. You know, the whole start off light thing. Woo!! I'm going to go for a few hearty walks this week and then Saturday... it's Mildly Accelerated Mobility time.

If things go well enough, I do think I'll be able to run Toowoomba.

"I was not aware I had to use that muscle"

Other than a disastrous start to the work week, wherein we lose one more coworker and there by significantly increasing the hours and workload of everyone- I had my second pilates class today.

I think I took it for underestimated how hard this would be. I was thinking light airy happy dancer moves.

NUH UH.

I have to concentrate and really focus to get myself to use the right muscles. Those damn hip flexors just wont rest. So of course this leads to a very slow progression through the exercises. I do, however feel ok about the fact that she's constantly checking to see if I'm doing the whole thingamadoo correctly. I can't even switch off the right neck muscles. I feel like I am on the verge of pulling some very hidden bum muscles.

So I'm working my way through injury through pilates, ok. And in all these maneuvers that I am learning- I'll fix my running, help deal with my tension headaches, and over all have better posture.

Why isn't everyone doing it? What about all those everyday people who arent doing anything? I don't get it. How can you do that? Nothing?? My boss just works and plays poker.
I think I'd end it all if that was my life.

Maybe I've been listening to too much rock and roll.

Life is Funny

It is. Its funny how people are. You can live in this little bubble of personal perception of the world around you and not even realize how others are taking your moving through their personal bubbles. If you aren't aware that you're upsetting someone, how can you know to be aware of that?

Something could be said, but not everyone takes that well. "Hello, I have put my entire day on hold waiting for you to show up and yet you haven't called to tell me you are running late- again".

That bugs me. At least call. At least try to understand that things aren't about you. Let me get on with my day.

I don't even want to smooth those ruffled feathers.

Why is communication so hard? Why can't people just say exactly what they mean? Why do we have to analyze every word used? I guess we have ourselves to blame. Pretty much all of literature is built on the multiple meanings of words, and being civilized means mastering double speak. Appearing to like someone and being nice when you're really being a bitch.

Now you can't speak bluntly and straightforward without upsetting someone who wants to hear the soft lie.

This weekend has been nice though. We've spent the last several weekends running around a lot. I think we both wanted to stay home and do a whole lot of not much. Saturday was mildly failed when we took off to get an x box worked on and then today our big trip was to go do a shop. Beyond that it's been relatively low key.

We'll see how things go tonight though. I might have to do damage control.

chinaski forgive me.

You know it's bad waiting for a bus when you can mistake a woman for one. It all ends up being a bit of mixed feelings. On one hand, you're relieved to be from from the job, but on the other- you dislike that waiting for the bus to show up. What you really want is to get on the bus and GO. It's always late though.

I've been keeping up with the exercises. There is a kind of fun challenge trying to switch on those muscles they want me to use. Give the hip flexor a break. I'm considering sneaking out for little light runs. I miss the feeling it gave me.

I haven't much more to say. Tomorrow night is another Friday Night Dinner with the friends. Its starting to be ritual now. I don't mind it. I think this Friday tho... I'll have a little less wine than last time.

their ideal neighborhood
their lives full of canned, mutilated laughter.
pasty mad who sit alone before their tv sets,
are careful to stay indoors, those
are careful to stay indoors, those
at least they are not out on the street, they
this fear of being what they are:
dead.
hello, how are you?

Did you know

..... that there is a set of teeny little muscles at the top of your butt that you can control? I'm not talking the butt itself.. but little muscles. heheh butt little muscles.

Yeah. Why do they always try to have morning tea on days I'm broke?

IT'S NOT A BABY

Engage Core.

Well today at work I got some sucky news in that I'll be doing subbing all week. I hope you're not expecting my input on that NATA report then boss. How can they expect me to be responsible for any of that if they kecep sticking me in the lab to cover missing employees.

Lucky for me though I jet out of there early today and headed off for my first pilates lesson. The first one is an assessment. Its you and your instructor and no one else. The instructor first assesses what the hell your body thinks it's doing.
"Bend over and touch your toes"

"Drop your arms side to side"

"Twist without moving your hips"

So on and so forth.

Then at the end of this assessment she gets to the nitty gritty. She pulls out the ultrasound. The use for this tool is to see when you are using your core muscles. I can definately see how this tool helps because otherwise it'd be difficult to assess when you are doing things right given that the movements are so small and not easily felt if you aren't used to it.

Well when she got the gel out all I requested of her was to NOT find a baby in there. She laughed and said that she's not trained to properly give out that info but that they say when you see a bub growing, it's hard not to miss it.

Freeeeezing cold gel on the belly she starts to move it around and show's me my core muscles working and how I can get them to work in exercises. It was kind of cool to see. Oddly enough, my right side isn't as well controlled as my left side and this is odd because it is my left hip that is all geeked up.
I have another apointment next week. Same bat time same bat spot.

I'm feeling grouchy now. Oh yeah, now I remember why. All the while I was being assessed by the pilates woman, I was seeing myself in a mirror. I couldn't help but be depressed at how dumpy I've become. I really hated looking at my reflection.
I refuse to end up like my parents. Something has to be done. I'm tired of being this way.

Enough whinging for today.

Rum , Coke, and Paolo

Rum and Coka cola and Paolo Conte.

This weekend has been pretty nice. It'd been a while since we saw the parentals and so we headed up to Redcliffe not only to see them but to also check out Jetty to Jetty. We drove up Saturday afternoon and got there in time for a late lunch at Zorbas, a nice little pizza place on the water that is within walking distance from the InLaws place. This means we can pack up a little bag full of booze to have with our lunch.

There is nothing nicer than sitting at the beach on a cool sunny day, having salad and pizza and (well a pasito for me) but everyone else had a beer. We sat and talked for a while. It's easy to do with Hubsands parents and that is one of the reasons why I like spending the occasional weekend with them.

We ended our gut stuffing lunch with gelati in cone and ate them at the beach. I had mint chocolate (mmmm). Jim took his all time fav rum raisin (ugh).

The InLaws had a party to go to Saturday night and so Jim and I were left at their home with the pets. Two cats and a dog. We settled in for a couple of episodes of Big Love and after then turned in for the night. Jim forgot to bring clothes to sleep in and I being the loving wife said I'd warm up the bed for him so he doesn't have to jump into a cold bed. How was I to do that? Well, I'll tell you-
I flailed around in the bed and did bed 'running' to warm up the sheets. I didn't get a thank you.

The next morning we woke early and crept around the house before we headed out to see the runners. It turns out we were closer to the 3 k mark than the 5k. Well, anywho.. we wanted coffee and so turned to go up the road to Redcliffe shops hoping to find a coffee shop open. After walking a bit (more than we wanted to) we found a shop with the slowest barrista girl working. I don't think she was awake yet. As we were standing at the counter, I noticed that the runners had started to go past. Crap.. they've started! I wandered out to see if I knew any of the runners and to see everyone go by. I kept walking back and forth between the shop and the street, torn by my need for java and the need to see the runners. As I was doing this , a little Peleton of cyclists chose to take off on their little ride and thus cut me off from the road. I was peeved by these dinks taking up the sidewalk and not letting me pass. I wish I had a couple of sticks to throw into their spokes. Dingleberries.

Just as Jim and I got our coffees and wandered back out to the street we saw a familiar runner. Knowing I couldn't get into trouble, I hollared out, " HEY BLAIR , SUFFER IN YOUR JOCKS!!"

I know he appreciated my support. Jim and I watched him and another CR (at the time I guessed mgilla) run off to do their running thang, and then we turned to head back to the car so that we could drive down to Woody Point to meet Lisa and her kids.

Meeting her and her minitricks at the park was nice because we all sat around and talked while watching the littluns waiting for the race to end. Jim seemed to have fun chasing around the little male minitrick. I'm hoping that all this exposure to kids will help Hubby to focus and get his butt in gear about getting a degree so we can have our own herd. I'm not getting any younger yo.

So the rest of the day proceeded in a manner of jokes, talking, coffee and food. All very nice ways to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. We headed back to Brisbane late afternoon and made plans to have dinner with our friends down the road.

So right now, I'm drinking rum and coke, listening to Paolo Conte on the stereo, and the friends are in the kitchen starting to cook dinner. Sazz is telling us about her trail riding on Saturday. I miss that.

Time for me to go and join them.

Tomorrow is pilates.
Hm.

Don't talk shit about Total.

Yesterday was a looong day.

Work flew by until the last 2 hours and then it dragged along.

Went out to see Dark Knight last night with the baltricks. Other than a very crap salad, dinner was fun and I have to say, I impressed everyone with my spot on Aussie accent.

The movie itself was LONG. Horray though for the pre buying of tickets. I'm used to lining up early and getting first crack at seats. Batman itself was kind of boring and Hubsand reckons the movie itself wasn't that great, save for the Joker's performance. Any bit that had the Joker in it was great.
And Batman's voice was weird. By the end of the movie I was thinking of this guy :

Warning... not everyone will like the vid..he swears a lot. It's actually nuts.

I can't think of much more to say. I woke up this morning with a headache I think from not sleeping well.

We're heading up to Redcliffe at lunchtime to spend the weekend up there and to see the race on Sunday. Not certain there will be much wireless internet access.

I think my posting has taken a downward spiral. At least on Monday I can talk about pilates.

I'm hungry

I didn't post yesterday. Since Tuesday, my lower back has been hurting. Not agonizingly, but it is uncomfortable and persistent. And achy.

So I haven't been walking like she said I should. With the back pain (and rain) I've been staying home and doing my exercises. Well, ok, I didn't do them last night.

This isn't much of a "running" blog at the moment. I'd talk about the eerily acccurate character analysis of the strange woman I work with by my only work buddy. She is being trained to be in the office more and the week has been a crash course witness to all her eccentricities. I do my best to keep my distance with her. The work buddy and I were discussing how things were going and he made a very very good analogy of what she is like. Kathy Bates in Misery. It wasn't until he said it that it made perfect sense to me. She is that way. Like a hair dryer in the face of forced cheeriness. There is no fluctuation of temperment and I can't deal with it. The work buddy reckons dispite her over the top loud cheery nature (like a bad bit part in a shakespearian play) she has a malicious undertone. He's willing to admit that he could be completely wrong but small instances lead me to think otherwise.

How'd I end up working with such unbelievable characters?? They're all parts in some nutty play and I somehow ended up in the middle of it. If I keep to my corner, I could survive the job. I could build a fort out of paper stacks and tell them to submit requests. No visitors (cept work buddy) and no drama near the fort or violators will be shot with e.coli laced rubber bands.

Are you breaking up with us?

This morning, walking to the train station (after so long) it was sooooo creepy out. It was 5:30 am and with the thick fog the only lights were the halos of the street lamps. It's about a 5 minute walk to the station and I was jumping at every sound. At first I liked that there was no one else around but then I thought it wasn't so good with no one around. This is when the werewolf jumps out and eats me. Or when Jack the Ripper slices me up. It wasn't much better when I got to the station and there was no one there. Completely empty.I thought maybe I'd gotten there too early. I checked my watch- 5:40 am. No...it's the right time. Did they change the train schedule on me and now there's no 5:50 train?

I sat down on the bench and waited and after a few minutes other people started to show up. All men but at least I wasn't the only one. Stomping through the city at 6 am is kind of freaky as well.I charged through Queen Street and made my way to the only decent coffee shop open at that hour. Grabbed a coffee and then went off to wait for my bus.

I can't wait to get the car back.

After work I headed right over to the physio. It wasn't until I was at the bus stop that I realized my appointment was in an hour and a half not an hour like I had thought. It takes only 20 minutes to get from the hospital to the gabba bus station. I had no idea how I was going to kill an hour until we pulled up to the station and I remembered that there was a Gloria Jeans. SCORE! About 45 minutes of java and reading my new magazine (finally showed) I skipped off across many lanes of traffic to the physio.

This time she repeated the bendy leg lifty thing. Looked at my legs laying down and said they they were even again. (WHAT?) I didn't even know they were uneven, but apparently they were off by about 3 cm. It seems my exercises were working. Lead Thumb then proceeded to bore through my soft tissue again. She hit on the old spots but then started getting onto new ones. I have no idea how anyone so tiny can get so much force into her hands. I was biting my hands this time to take my mind off the pain.

I brought up pilates as a way to get stronger for running. She agreed and thought that it'd be worth doing now. So I signed up for my first one on one session on Monday. Apparently the woman whose teaching is the same one that instructs all the Lions players. Good enough for me.

So that's that.

Electricity and Wahter

I'm bored so I'm going to write some more. It's a good time to do this because it's the crap half hour of tv and Jimboomba is cooking.

Thing is I need a feckin topic.

I just shouted out to Jim to give me a topic to write about. After a bit of stammering "um...um" he said, "egg laying mammals".

Yer on hubsand.

Egg laying mammals.Monotremes. What about these freaks eh? Argue their irrelevance creationists! I love em. I love their spikiness and poisonous spurriness and that they're all locals.

So what are all the egg laying mammals ? Google says (hey I'm not uber biologist)- geeze.. there's just the platypus and then 4 different kinds of echidnas (splitting hairs I say). You can't make them your pets. You can't hug em. You can't even find the damn things.

Other interesting facts that mean pretty much nothing to you-

1.
Like other mammals, however, monotremes have a single bone in their lower jaw, three middle ear bones, high metabolic rates, hair, and they produce milk to nourish the young. (I stole this bit from a website because I didn't feel like typing it all out )

2. they don't have teeth. I guess that makes them good suckers.

Since I'm a northern hemisphere girl, these animals are interesting to me but I know jack shite about them. This is about as far as I can blog on them short of posting pictures and really... all you aussies should know what they look like by now. cmon....

someone throw me a bone here...

give me questions I can answer while I'm sitting here on the bench. The blog is dying under the stifling regime of No Running. What a cruel bitchy mistress therapy is. Squashing me dearest desires to talk about running. I will not be broken. I will survive because what does not kill me makes me stronger. When I lift this mantle of oppressive walking... I will run like the Dickens (who knew Charlie was so fast?).

I think I'm losing my mind.

UPDATE- jim is crunching away on bones from our dinner next to me. He's like a cave man vampire.. sucking the marrow.
Not anything like a monotreme.

A Whole Lotta Nothing

Sunday and subsequently today, not a lot is happening.
After a lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs, Motospazz and I headed out to briskly walk coro drive. Storming along, it's always nice to have a solid out and out talkathon with friends. We got all the way to the city, turned and headed back. The hip was sore little through the middle of the walk but I think it's ok.

The rest of the afternoon followed with very little done. Came home and found Hubsand working on the bike. Car was not able to be fixed (thus todays towage of car and forking over small fortune to fix it).
We've done nothing other than watch Big Love and be blobs on sofas.

Ended the evening by keeping up with my exercises (have to especially mention that).

This morning the mechanic that came to look at our car said that after an hour of work, it'd have to be towed to the shop for further testing. We probably wont see the car for a few days. It's depressing news to hear. On top of which, I have very little trust of mechanics. I can't help but think that they'll overcharge and rob you blind at the first chance they get.

After that assessment, we needed to .... argh.. this is all boring.

blaah.

AAUUGGGHH BLASSTIE!!

After last night's insanity and debauchery, I woke up this morning to a mild hangover and slightly confused as to where we kept our water closet. Thankfully my navigational skills were only mildly derailed.

Amazingly though, the pain went away after about an hour. Yay Juice!!

The rest of the day was fantastically uneventful. Yes it was gorgeous out but occasionally I need a weekend where I accomplish nothing. I used to lock myself in my bedroom and spend all day and night and day in bed watching tv and sleeping. One day I will have kids and I know I'll never ever get to do that again. Live it up I say!

We finished watching season one of Big Love (great characters) and then did a little bit of cleaning with Hubsand, removed a rug, and then after several failed attempts at starting our car- we hunkered down for the afternoon to watch The Mist.

OH MY GAHD. It's not a top rate film yeah, and it's rife with the Stephen King preachiness...but the spider bit freaked me out. I loathe, hate, abhorr, detest, cannot stand spiders. I literally had to get up and have my freak out in the kitchen. Hubsand just laughs at me.

So now that we are automobileless, we are staying in and have ordered Indian for delivery.
I hope the car choses to work tomorrow. Irregardless, I will have to bus and train it in on Monday rather than getting a ride with Hubby. It's gonna be cold.

Oh- all things running.
I did not run today. I will however be doing my exercises and have Hubby push on my back though.

I am not certain what to write about now that I don't have much running news to give. Perhaps if anyone has any questions or need any of life's mysteries that need answering, I can include that in the next blog.

It's a fact, men are amused by boobelas bouncing to music.

I Wanna Rock N Roll All Niiiigghhhtt

Yay Friday! Two days of freedom especially if I turn off my phone.

Woke up -
In pain...

I checked out my hips where the physio was trying to push right through them and they were covered in bruises. I look like a very bad figure skater. Limped around all day and the slightest touch on the bruises felt extra special. It's going to feckin hurt tonight when I'm werkin the tennis ball.

Crap... I kind of need to do this now because friends are coming over for dinner. Jimboomba is making Whores Pasta. I have a very strong feeling that there is no way I'll do them after wine and pasta.

The rest of the day was pretty much the same as before. Three ring circus day at work . Three ring circus days are the ones where I'm in the office, in the scientist lab and in the food lab covering work. While I found it quite crap the arraingement, especially since I have a report due soon that I can't get started on, the upside to the day was that pretty much no one messed with me or bugged me while I was subbing. Yay!

That is all.

Captain out.

Update***

Ok I did my exercises an it feckin hurt. Lets all push tennis balls into our bruises. I am now sitting on my hot water bottle and have survived one more day from the wrath of bali.

There was something else I was going to update with but I can't remember.

Round Two

Well after an unexpectedly busy day at work where I was bounced back into the food lab to do the plate counts and subbing, I had my first new physio appointment. This time it was at QSMC and the physio was a woman. I was a little late because the bus was late and I had trouble finding the place.

Once I did and was all paperworked in, the physio brought me back to have a look. To begin with, her assessment was way more thorough than the previous guy. I was doing all sort of bendy leg lifty things as she watched my hips. Then she started pushing on EVERYTIHING . All I could think of was 1. that hurts and 2. I wish I'd gone to the bathroom before I got there. Instead of just looking at my joints though she was poking and prodding my muscles too. Her assessment was that- yes, I do have a sacroiliac problem but that I also have issues with the left front hip and thigh muscles and the right back bum and back muscles. My hips are twisting.

This tiny little woman then proceeded to dig her bony little elbows and tiny thumbs into various muscles in the affected regions which led to a lot of pain (and very little whimpering) on my part. I am a very tense little mess.

Good god it hurt! In the end, she gave me a tennis ball to lay on, exercises to build strength, and an invitation to the bench. No running. At best, I'm back to walking.

I have already taken permanent marker and written "CJ THERAPY" on my tennis ball. This is so the hubsand does not confiscate it for his own amusement. I think he's already lost it.

I got a List of Demands

I feel like being grumpy on a sofa with Serge having a beer. Hubsand has gone out on a run on coro without me. Normally I have to drag him fighting and kicking to go with me. Now he's taking off without me. He's also gone on to say he's thinking of entering the J2J 10k run if we go up that weekend.

What?

He had no interest in any of this running stuff and now he's surpassing goals my goals before I get a chance to even train for them. I know I'm being whingy. I know I'm being a baby.

Still, one of the reasons I started this running thing was to have something of my own. Ever since I moved down here, my identity was entirely wrapped up in being Mrs. ****. I did nothing without hubsand, and even the only 2 friends I have made since being here were his friends. Hubsand eventually thought that I needed to find something of my own and make friends of my own. Which is true. Before I crossed the Pond I lived very independantly and had my own little world that took care of me. My friends, My time, My hobbies. Very me me me.

I don't know. I feel very agitated and I'm sure I'm being a douche. I'm just confused I think. As nice as the past two years have been I think they also have very much so messed with my identity.

I should be happy for him. I will be happy for him.

so you think you can dodge a bullet?

After having Monday off, I schlep my way into work this morning only to remember that I have an audit assessment to do today. I am not ready for it and I spent no time thinking about it this past weekend. Well crap. Not what I feel like doing today. So I start cramming for it and try to figure out how the hell I'm going to get a 3 hour procedure done 3 different ways done in 2 hours. Not to mention the confirmation tests. Lucky for me though, I find out later in the morning that my assessment has been put off as my instructor is ill until further notice. Woo!!

After a now slow day at work and finding a new physio for my hip , I come home with a need. A need for speed. I slap on the running shoes and head out the door after an early afternoon snack of Starbursts. I should have figured that its not the best thing to eat before a run but you never know what you can get away with. This run I was going to start running times and not distances. I thought that given the hip pain I've had over the past week and that I haven't run in as long , I should take it easy. I'll run till I need to stop. That lasted all of 4 minutes and 41 seconds. Not even to the 1km mark on the road. My abdomen was killing me and my hip was acting up. On the way back in I only managed to run for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. OH THE SHAME!! To compound things I think I saw one of the better women runners of Brisbane out there too. It was kind of embarassing trotting past this lady who had run a full marathon just 2 days before. As I got near the city cat dock, a foreign woman stopped me to ask questions about Brisbane transit ("is this the cih tee cat? Can i use my boos teeket?"). And in those 10 seconds I was standing there my hip went to pot. I couldn't support myself on that leg and sharp pains were shooting down to my knee. I hobbled up past the bus stop and limped all the way to Toowong where I tried a little bit of a trot again. There is a good chance Quasimodo was more elegant than I. So I managed 2 small jogs back home where I plopped down in a chair next to Jim , unhappy with the run. We came to the conclusion that 1. I had let myself down by not keeping up with my exercises for my hip and 2. It probably didn't help things that I had taken so much time off of running as well.
As I got up to get showered off, my hip and leg completely gave out on me. I couldn't straighten it or stand on it without the whole thigh hurting. Bent over, I made it to the laundry room and managed to get on with things.

If I go see this physio on Thursday and he tells me the same thing the other guy did, well then I'll definately know that all this pain is my own fault. I hate though, that I have to do so much stretching and pre/post run exercises. Why cant I just run??

Still no bow and arrow.

Ps. I love water.

Try 1001 at blogging

Alright,

So I start a ton of blogs but never maintain them. Don't be surprised if I drop off again.

I'm trying this again because I've had a few run in's with some great writers. Several that I've told they should keep writing, or get back to it.(Hubsand, Serge, balri) I've also known a few prolific writers that I find inspiring when reading their stuff (I'm looking at you Diva for one, Freak as well).

I want this to be part running blog, cause I should see where I've come from and where I want to go; and part just life blog. I think I take it for granted that what ever it is I'm doing here in Australia isn't interesting to others. I also have a major problem putting anything of myself out there to be seen. And while I might be crap socially in real life, I seem to do better through the interwebz.

I spent the past weekend at the Gold Coast watching what has to be the biggest marathon race in Australia. In spite of a hip injury that makes running painful,I've set a goal for the next year to have run several 10 kilometer races and to try and enter the Gold Coast half marathon. I just need to fix my hip. I know I can do it. I'm not out to win any races but I like the idea of being able to compete with myself and to see what I can do as an athlete. Since college I always missed that competition and training vibe I got from rowing. I have a theory that many athletes get to see things most people don't get to see just because athletes are out there and a part of the environment.

On top of running, and who knows when this'll happen, I'll be picking up archery. For my birthday Jim said he'd buy me my own bow and arrow kit. I'm looking at a recurve bow and I like the patience and pricision that I think is part of archery. However, Jim has yet to actually buy me my bow and arrows. He want to wait until we can go to an archery club where I can try different types so he knows what to get me.I just want to get started.

This is about where I'll stop. I think that's enough for me for now. Maybe more will come. I need to try and stay on top of this. If I drop off you all are more than welcome to smack me about the head and tell me to write.
